On Wednesday, November 4, the interbank currency market is experiencing calm trading in a narrow range of 45.53-45.56 UAH. Currency buyer activity compared to Monday and Tuesday has decreased severalfold. At 11:18, the volume of transactions in the Bloomberg trading system was 66 million dollars – 4 times less than at the same time yesterday.
The main buyers of non-cash currency yesterday and the day before – banks that were evening out their currency position – have already purchased the necessary amount of currency. That is, now the market mostly consists of importers, and they simply don't need as much currency at once as in previous days. We can state that the NBU's actions aimed at restraining the growth of the dollar exchange rate and eliminating rush demand, preventing panic in the currency market, are beginning to bear fruit. The situation is calming down, albeit slowly.
The euro on Ukraine's interbank currency market on Wednesday is trading in the range of 51.12-51.23 UAH on the "bid" position – roughly at the same level as yesterday. The euro in Ukraine remains stable, despite the growth of the euro on the international FOREX currency market, where at the time of writing it had reached 1.1263 dollars. The euro is growing amid the fall of the dollar due to the Democrats' crushing victory in the midterm elections to the US Congress, where they won a majority in both chambers – the Senate and the House of Representatives.
