There is a reaction to the held the day before yesterday meeting at the NBU with the heads of large financial companies. Financial companies (though not all) took the NBU's message as a guide to action, and lowered the selling rates of the dollar (and the euro too) to those that the regulator wanted to see.

To those who did not take what was said seriously, punitive measures were immediately applied. Already on the evening of November 3, information appeared on the NBU website about the revocation of the license for currency operations from LLC "FC "Money Republic". And since certain violations, with a strong desire, can be found literally in everyone, everyone's doubts about the seriousness of the NBU's intentions to normalize the dollar exchange rate by such methods disappeared.

Already yesterday evening, the capital's wholesale exchange offices reduced the dollar selling rate immediately by 60 kopecks, to 46.25 UAH. At the same price, the dollar was sold in Kyiv this morning as well. However, it turned out that there are more people willing to buy the cheaper dollar than those willing to sell it. Therefore, it can be assumed that this rate will not last long.

The dollar also became cheaper in regional centers. Today in the first half of the day, wholesalers sold the dollar at the following prices: Chernivtsi and Odessa – 46.33 UAH, Dnipro – 46.35-46.40 UAH, Kharkiv – 46.40 UAH, Chernihiv – 46.45 UAH, Poltava and Khmelnytskyi – 46.50 UAH.

Following the financial companies, commercial banks also began to lower rates. At 12:00 on Wednesday, the cheapest dollar at 45.95 UAH could be bought in Ukrgasbank, OTP Bank and Pivdennyi Bank. The most expensive dollar at 46.50 UAH was traditionally sold in Zaporizhzhia's Metbank. Either the news from Kyiv has not reached Zaporizhzhia yet, or in the front-line city they decided: "It's better to sell the dollar expensively than not to sell it at all."

As for the euro, interest in which, according to the "Kurs Ukrainy" portal, is much lower than in the dollar, here the minimum price even increased compared to Tuesday. The euro currency on Wednesday was sold at a price from 51.50 UAH in the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank to 52.15 UAH in Zaporizhzhia's Metbank.
