Yesterday's drop in cash dollar selling prices, as a reaction to the meeting held at the National Bank, where financial companies were asked to curb their appetites and lower the dollar selling rate, had no continuation today. Quite the opposite: despite the ongoing decline in interbank quotes, the cash dollar in the capital even rose slightly in price today.
In Kyiv by Wednesday evening, large batches of "white" dollars (i.e., old-design dollars) could be bought at 46.35 hryvnias. Compared to yesterday evening, the selling price increased by 10 kopecks.
In regional centers, the cost of cash dollars started from 46.40 hryvnias in Dnipro to 46.55 hryvnias in Odesa. In Lviv and Dnipro, cash "Americans" were sold at 46.40 hryvnias, in Kharkiv – 46.50 hryvnias, and in Odesa – 46.55 hryvnias. Notably, in Odesa the price increased by only 5 kopecks, while in Lviv it went up by 13 kopecks compared to yesterday evening. In Kharkiv, the dollar selling rate remained unchanged, while in Dnipro it became 10 kopecks lower.
In Ukrainian banks, small amounts of dollars can be bought slightly cheaper. By Wednesday evening, the cheapest dollar was sold in some branches of Lviv Bank at 45.90 hryvnias, and the most expensive – at 46.50 hryvnias in Zaporizhzhia's Metabank.
However, euro prices went up. By this evening, the minimum euro selling price started from 51.50 hryvnias in the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank, while the most expensive euro – at 52.15 hryvnias – was also sold in Zaporizhzhia's Metabank.
The gap between the cost of non-cash and cash dollars started growing again. By Wednesday evening it widened to 85 kopecks. Everything suggests that stabilization of the cash currency market is still far away. People are scared. The number of those wanting to "hide in currency" has increased both among the general population and among business representatives.
