In Ukraine, emergency power outages can be introduced and canceled repeatedly within a single day. Due to constant Russian attacks, the situation in the power system changes so rapidly that dispatchers have to adjust the restriction regime several times an hour.
This was reported by the energy company DTEK on November 4, explaining the reasons for frequent changes in electricity supply schedules.
According to the company, about 20 Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure were recorded on November 3 alone. Constant damage to power system facilities complicates its operation and requires prompt redistribution of available electricity.
DTEK explained that dispatchers are forced to balance the power system in real time. Their main task is to prevent accidents and avoid a larger-scale blackout.
That is why the decision to introduce emergency outages can be made several times during the day. When the situation allows, restrictions are canceled, but when new threats arise, they have to be brought back.
A similar situation was observed on November 4 in Kyiv and Kyiv region. After emergency outages were canceled and hourly schedules were restored, power engineers were forced to re-introduce emergency restrictions at the command of NPC Ukrenergo.
During emergency outages, regular hourly schedules do not apply. Electricity supply may be cut off outside planned periods, and the exact time of its restoration cannot be determined in advance.
Therefore, even after an official announcement of the cancellation of emergency restrictions, consumers should consider the possibility of their re-introduction. For up-to-date information on the power supply regime, check the messages of regional electricity grid operators.
DTEK thanked consumers for their patience and understanding, emphasizing that operational changes are necessary to maintain the stability of the power system amid ongoing attacks.
