On the night of November 5, Russian troops attacked an important electricity supply facility in Chernihiv region. As a result of the strike, 35,000 consumers were left without electricity. Due to the difficult situation in the region's energy system, emergency power outages were introduced.
The consequences of the attack were reported by JSC "Chernihivoblenergo". According to the company, 35,000 consumers were left without electricity as of the morning report. Energy workers are working to restore power.
At 10:26, "Chernihivoblenergo" reported the application of five stages of the emergency outage schedule (EOS) as instructed by NPC "Ukrenergo". The restrictions will remain in effect until a separate order from the energy system operator.
Emergency outages are applied to stabilize the energy system and may not coincide with previously published hourly schedules. Consumers can check information about electricity supply by their personal account number on the official website of "Chernihivoblenergo" or through the company's chatbots.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that on the morning of November 5, as a result of Russian shelling, new power outages occurred in Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Emergency restoration works are ongoing in the affected regions, if the security situation allows.
According to First Deputy Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov, since the beginning of the week, from November 2, Russian troops have carried out 78 targeted strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. As a result of the attacks, energy facilities suffered serious damage, the elimination of which requires considerable time.
According to the official, restoration works are complicated by the threat of repeated shelling. Energy crews are working in an intensified mode, but the timing of restoring stable electricity supply depends on the scale of damage and security conditions.
The Ministry of Energy also noted that hourly outage schedules are in effect in most regions of Ukraine, and for industrial enterprises - capacity limitation schedules. These measures are necessary to maintain the balance of the energy system.
Residents of Chernihiv region are urged to follow official announcements from the regional energy company, as the outage regime may change during the day.
