In Kyiv on November 5, water supply is gradually being restored after major disruptions that affected all districts of the capital. Utility services are working to normalize pressure in water supply networks. The cause of the emergency was damage to energy equipment as a result of Russian attacks.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this.

According to the mayor, pressure in the capital's water supply system is gradually being normalized, and water is being restored to areas where disruptions occurred.

Klitschko explained that the emergency was a consequence of a Russian attack on Ukraine's energy system. Damage to equipment that supplies electricity, in particular to Kyiv, caused problems with power supply to water infrastructure.

Earlier, Kyivvodokanal confirmed that due to emergency power outages at its facilities, water supply disruptions were observed in all districts of the capital.

Specialists of the water utility, together with power engineers, are working to eliminate the consequences of the accident. Water supply is being restored gradually, but the timing of full stabilization of water supply has not yet been announced.

New disruptions occurred against the backdrop of emergency power outages. Earlier on November 5, NEC Ukrenergo announced the application of emergency restrictions in Kyiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy regions. In these regions, previously announced hourly schedules are temporarily not in effect.

This is already the second major disruption to Kyiv's water supply in the last three days. On November 3, due to power outages at major Kyivvodokanal facilities, centralized water supply ceased in the capital. Restoration work continued throughout the next day.

Only on November 4 at 13:50, the enterprise announced the complete restoration of water supply, normalization of pressure, and return of all water and sewage pumping stations to normal operation.

While water supply is being restored, residents of the capital can use city public water pumps if needed. Their locations can be checked on the interactive map of Kyivvodfond.
