Ukraine is introducing a new procedure for deploying mobile aid points of the State Emergency Service. Special tents will be promptly set up in densely populated areas where electricity has been out for more than a day.
This was announced on November 5 by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi following a meeting with the head of the SES Andriy Danyk.
According to the new algorithm, mobile aid points should be immediately deployed in areas of settlements where more than 30,000 households live and electricity has been absent for more than 24 hours.
Regional departments of the SES will receive relevant instructions already on Friday, November 6.
Each mobile tent will be equipped with a generator and heat guns. Residents will be able to use electricity to charge mobile phones and other electronic devices, as well as to warm up during prolonged power outages.
“Each of these tents will be provided with a generator and heat guns so that people can charge their gadgets and warm up”, Vyhivskyi said.
Separately, the minister instructed the leadership of the National Police to organize a constant presence of police crews near mobile aid points. Law enforcement officers will ensure public order and the safety of visitors.
Citizens can also receive the necessary assistance at any territorial division of the SES or the National Police. This possibility remains regardless of the deployment of additional mobile points.
The new response procedure is being introduced amid the difficult situation in the Ukrainian energy system following Russian attacks. Emergency and hourly power outages continue in a number of regions, and damage to the energy infrastructure hampers the rapid restoration of electricity supply.
Previously, mobile aid points were already deployed in Kyiv and other affected cities. Now the Ministry of Internal Affairs has defined uniform conditions under which regional departments of the SES must promptly organize such assistance to the population.
Specific addresses of the new mobile points and their number are not yet indicated in the minister's message. Information about operating stationary aid points can be found on the official map of "Points of Invincibility".
