The Defense Procurement Agency DOT has for the first time contracted over 2000 buggies for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Thanks to competitive bidding, the state managed to save about 1.5 billion UAH of budget funds.
This was reported on November 6 by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Procurements were conducted under a simplified procedure in the Prozorro electronic system, dividing the order into 11 separate lots. This ensured competition among suppliers and made it possible to choose the most advantageous offers.
According to Deputy Minister of Defense Mstyslav Banik, the savings from the tender amounted to about 1.5 billion UAH. The saved funds can be directed to other needs of the Ukrainian military.
Suppliers must deliver almost all contracted vehicles by December 2026.
These are light all-wheel-drive vehicles with the ability to engage and disengage four-wheel drive (4x4), equipped with high-flotation tires. The buggies are designed for off-road movement, particularly in conditions where the use of heavier equipment is difficult.
Such vehicles are used for evacuating the wounded, delivering ammunition, fuel, food, and equipment, as well as for transporting personnel.
Acting Director of the Defense Procurement Agency DOT Artem Romanyukov noted that the development of competition among suppliers should ensure more efficient use of the defense budget and involvement of a wider range of manufacturers.
The Ministry of Defense is gradually expanding the use of competitive procedures in procurements for the military. The ministry expects this will increase the transparency of orders and rational use of budget funds.
