The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has expanded financing opportunities for international scientific and innovative projects. In particular, Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to receive state support to participate in the international Eureka program.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reported this on November 6, citing the Ministry of Education and Science.
The government has updated the procedure for using budget funds to fulfill international obligations in the field of science and education. The changes create legal grounds for financing Ukrainian enterprises participating in joint research and technological development with international partners.
First of all, this concerns the international innovative program Eureka, which supports cooperation between enterprises, scientific institutions, and other organizations in developing new technologies and products.
The updated mechanism will allow directing budget funds to projects selected as a result of international competitions. Recipients of funding can be higher education institutions, scientific institutions, enterprises, public and other organizations.
In addition to the Eureka program, the changes concern the financing of Ukrainian participants in joint projects within European partnerships under the Horizon Europe program.
The government also regulated the use of special fund funds that the Ministry of Education and Science receives from international partners under agreements and grant agreements. In particular, a mechanism has been created for using funding attracted through the International Coalition for the Support of Science, Research, and Innovation of Ukraine.
Separately, the possibility of paying Ukraine's contributions for participation in joint undertakings and European consortia of research infrastructures ERIC is provided. This will ensure the participation of Ukrainian organizations in relevant international scientific structures.
The adopted decision does not mean automatic grants for all enterprises. Funding will be received by participants who meet the requirements of the relevant programs and pass competitive selection.
Specific amounts of support for individual enterprises, application deadlines, and start dates for funding were not specified in the government's report.
