The decline in price tags on the cash currency market continued today, despite the expectations of some market participants who assumed another upward reversal. This was facilitated by the ongoing decline in quotations on the interbank currency market for the fourth day in a row.
In Kyiv by Friday evening, large batches of "white" dollars (i.e., old-style dollars) could be purchased at 46.08 UAH. Compared to yesterday evening, the selling price decreased by 12 kopecks.
In regional centers at the same time, the price of cash dollars started from 46.14 UAH in Odesa to 46.30 UAH in Kharkiv. In Lviv, 46.18 UAH was asked for cash "American," and in Dnipro – 46.20 UAH. How have prices changed? In all the cities considered, the dollar became cheaper over the day, only the magnitude of the decline differed. In Kharkiv and Odesa, the price dropped by 4 kopecks, in Lviv – by 5, and in Dnipro – by 10 kopecks.
Prices also began to decline more actively at the cash desks of Ukrainian banks. By Friday evening, the cheapest dollar was sold at Ukrgasbank and the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank at 45.80 UAH, and the most expensive – at 46.20 UAH at Radabank. The minimum price decreased by 10 kopecks, and the maximum – by as much as 20.
Euro prices today declined more dynamically: influenced by the fall of the euro on FOREX. By this evening, the minimum selling price for euros started from 51.20 UAH at Tascombank, while the most expensive euros – 52.05 UAH – were sold at BTA Bank.
The gap between the value of non-cash and cash dollars again began to narrow. By Friday evening it amounted to 84.5 kopecks. Everything indicates that stabilization of the situation on the cash currency market is still far away. Demand for cash currency from the population remains high, and lower price tags only stimulate buying more. And the shortage of cash dollars in bank tellers forces the population to buy it in retail exchange offices, where the rate is much higher than the bank rate.
