President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concern over a possible US-Russia agreement on a new European security system. In his opinion, such agreements could pose a danger if discussed without a prior settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Zelensky said this on November 6 in a CNN interview, answering questions from journalist Jake Tapper.

The president acknowledged that he does not yet have full information about the Donald Trump administration's proposals regarding a new security architecture in Europe. However, the very prospect of broad agreements between Russia and European states raises serious concerns for him.

“For me this is not easy, and it could be dangerous,” — Zelensky said.

According to him, the Ukrainian side learned about a possible new security mechanism during a conversation with special representatives of the US president Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The contacts took place as part of preparations for the upcoming trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States and Russia in Abu Dhabi.

Zelensky stressed that first of all it is necessary to agree on ending the war in Ukraine, and only after that discuss broader security guarantees.

The Ukrainian president's statement came after Donald Trump announced the preparation of a large-scale agreement that could concern not only Ukraine but all of Europe.

On November 5, the American president met at the White House with Vladimir Putin's special representative Kirill Dmitriev. After the meeting, Trump told reporters that he expects a major agreement, but did not reveal its specific terms.

Jared Kushner subsequently said that Washington is working on forming a broader European security system. According to him, it should take into account the security interests of all parties, reduce the likelihood of future conflicts, and create more predictable relations between states.

The American side also proposed considering measures to increase transparency of military activities and mutually reduce escalation risks between Russia and European countries.

As reported by the Financial Times, these initiatives caused concern in European capitals. Officials fear that possible agreements with Moscow could affect the principles of NATO and the security of Eastern European states.

According to CNN information, several European representatives familiar with the diplomatic consultations admitted that they do not know exactly which proposals Trump meant.

At the same time, NATO representative Allison Hart confirmed that consultations were held between the United States, Ukraine, the alliance, and European partners in Brussels. Their goal was to prepare conditions for a just and sustainable end to the war.

A new round of negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is scheduled for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi. It is expected that the participants will discuss possible steps toward cessation of hostilities and future security guarantees.

However, no official draft agreement on a new security system for Europe has been presented yet. There have also been no reports of agreements between Washington and Moscow on changes to existing European security mechanisms.
