In some networks of gas stations in Ukraine, LPG may rise in price to UAH 66 per liter in the second half of November. This forecast was presented by the consulting group "A-95" on November 6, reports Enkorr.
The average price of LPG in the country has already approached UAH 60/l. According to the published Kurs monitoring data of "A-95", as of November 6, it was UAH 59.93/l. Over the week since October 30, the cost increased by UAH 2.27/l.
During October, the average retail price added UAH 13.75/l and reached UAH 57.66/l by the end of the month.
Analysts explain the price increase by limited supply of propane and butane on the world market. The reduction in supplies from the Middle East intensified competition between Asian and European buyers for American resources.
Supplies to Ukraine are additionally complicated by the shortage of LPG in Poland, Romania, and Lithuania. Transport costs are growing due to risks in the Black Sea and queues at automobile checkpoints.
According to "A-95", on November 6, imported LPG at the Polish-Ukrainian border was offered at prices above $1500 per ton. At the southern checkpoints, offers also approached this level. It is the current cost of imported resource that analysts take into account in the forecast of further price increases at gas stations.
For a driver, the difference will be noticeable even with one refueling. If the price at a specific station rises from UAH 60 to UAH 66 per liter, buying 40 liters will cost UAH 2640 instead of UAH 2400 – UAH 240 more.
For a company consuming 1000 liters of LPG per month, such a conditional price increase will increase monthly expenses by UAH 6000 with unchanged consumption volume.
The benchmark of UAH 66 per liter refers to possible prices in individual networks, not to the forecast of the average cost across Ukraine. Specific networks are not named in the "A-95" report.
