The net purchase of cash foreign currency by the population in October 2026 increased by about a third compared to September. The difference between purchases and sales reached $986.8 million in dollar equivalent.

This is evidenced by NBU data cited by Interfax-Ukraine on November 6. In September, net purchases amounted to about $740 million, and in October last year — approximately $750 million.

In October, the population bought $2.301 billion worth of cash foreign currency — $214 million, or about 10%, more than the previous month. At the same time, sales decreased by $32.9 million to $1.3142 billion. It was the combination of increased purchases and decreased sales that ensured the growth of net demand by about a third.

Ukrainians bought mostly cash US dollars — $1.506 billion. Purchases of euros amounted to $738.8 million in dollar equivalent. Thus, the total amount includes various foreign currencies converted into dollars.

Already on November 6, the cash dollar was weakening for the fourth day in a row, Kurs reported. Monthly exchange volumes show the population's behavior over the past period, but do not themselves determine the future movement of the exchange rate.
