After Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk region, more than 600,000 consumers were left without electricity. This was the estimate given on the morning of November 8 by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha. Hospitals and critical infrastructure facilities are being switched to generator power.
According to the Regional Military Administration, the outages affected Dnipro, Kamianske, Samar, Pavlohrad, and Synelnykove districts. DTEK confirmed damage to important energy facilities and power outages for consumers, including in Dnipro itself.
The outage disrupted urban transport. In the morning, the Transport Department of Dnipro City Council reported the suspension of all tram and trolleybus routes due to lack of power supply to traction substations. Metro train service was also halted. Stations continue to operate as shelters.
Emergency power outages are in effect in Dnipro, DTEK reported. During such restrictions, regular schedules are not applied: no previously published schedule can predict when power will be restored.
Energy workers have begun restoration. The priority is to restore power to critical infrastructure. Work is complicated by repeated Russian attacks.
More than 400 “Points of Invincibility” are operating in the five partially blacked-out districts, including over 160 in Dnipro district. There you can charge devices, use the internet, and warm up, the regional administration reported. Addresses are available in the “Diia” app and on the Regional Military Administration website.
The figure of over 600,000 consumers reflects the scale of the outage on the morning of November 8. The deadline for full restoration of power supply has not been announced.
