In the morning of August 15, users in Ukraine began reporting problems with non-cash payments. In some cases, card payments are delayed or declined.

PrivatBank has already confirmed technical issues affecting some of its services. The bank's specialists are working to restore normal operation.

What is known so far:

  • users report difficulties in conducting cashless payments;
  • PrivatBank officially confirmed problems with several services;
  • the bank is already working to resolve the technical failure;
  • the cause of the failure and the timeline for full services restoration have not yet been announced.

What PrivatBank said

PrivatBank confirmed that difficulties arose in the operation of several services in the morning.

The bank stated that the team is already addressing the problem and expects to restore services to normal operation in the near future.

At the same time, PrivatBank has not yet specified which systems were affected by the failure and how many clients encountered problems.

It is also not yet known whether the problems experienced by users are directly related to card processing, POS terminal operations, or other elements of the banking infrastructure.

The scale of the failure is still being clarified

Reports of widespread problems with non-cash payments in Ukraine are circulating on social media and Telegram channels. Users claim that in some retail outlets payments are difficult to process or fail altogether.

However, at the time of publication, there is no official confirmation of a nationwide failure of the entire banking or payment system in Ukraine.

Confirmed are technical problems in the services of PrivatBank — the country's largest bank, used daily by millions of Ukrainians.

Therefore, a failure in its infrastructure can be noticeable to a large number of customers and retail outlets at the same time.

What to do if the payment does not go through

If the terminal declines the payment, do not immediately repeat the operation many times in a row. First, it is advisable to check in the banking app whether the amount was actually debited from the account.

If there is no debit, you can try the payment again after some time or use another bank card.

If necessary, it is worth having an alternative payment method until the services are fully restored.

If the money was debited but the merchant did not receive payment confirmation, it is necessary to keep the transaction information and contact your bank.

When services will be restored

PrivatBank has not yet announced the exact time for resolving the failure completely.

The bank says the situation is temporary and the technical team is already working to restore normal operations.

Information may change quickly. KURS Ukraine will monitor statements from banks and the regulator and will update the material once new data appear on the causes and scale of the failure.
