In Ukraine, problems have again arisen with PrivatBank terminals
In Ukraine on the evening of August 18, problems once again arose with non-cash payment through PrivatBank POS terminals. According to the editors of "Kurs Ukrainy", the failure is simultaneously observed in several large retail chains.
When trying to pay by bank card, terminals display the message "No connection to bank", after which the payment cannot be processed. According to the editors' information, the problems concerned specifically PrivatBank POS terminals.
At the time of publication, PrivatBank had not publicly announced the reasons for the new failure or the timeframe for full restoration of terminal operations. There is no data confirming that the current problems are related to a hacker attack.
This is already the second noticeable failure of the bank's payment services in a few days. On the morning of August 15, users from different regions of Ukraine reported problems with card payments and terminal operations. At that time, PrivatBank confirmed technical difficulties with several services, and later reported restoration of their normal work.
During the previous failure, in some cases not only payment refusals occurred: some clients reported that funds were debited from the card, although the transaction did not complete. The bank stated that money for such operations should automatically be returned to client accounts.
The editorial team is monitoring the situation. The material will be supplemented after the appearance of an official PrivatBank comment on the reasons for the repeated terminal problems.
