Ukrainians warned of risk of new Russian strike
Russia may be preparing a new strike on Ukraine. Amid the ongoing threat, Ukrainians were urged not to ignore air raid signals. This was stated on the evening of August 19 by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC, Andriy Kovalenko.
Kovalenko did not disclose the possible timing of the attack, its scale, or likely targets. Therefore, his warning does not mean that the exact time of a new strike is known. The main recommendation for citizens is to carefully respond to official reports of air danger and to be in a safe place during an alert.
The head of the CCD also noted that Russia continues its chosen strategy of a war of attrition. At the same time, according to him, even Russian military bloggers and experts increasingly say that the RF is waging war at the limit of its capabilities. Kovalenko believes that the Russian leadership has not yet shown readiness to end the war.
The warning came after another Russian air attack. On the night of August 19, Russian forces used two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 65 drones of various types. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or suppressed 56 drones and two loitering munitions “Banderol”. Hits were recorded at 10 locations, and the fall of downed targets and debris at three more.
During August 19, Russian troops continued to use air attack means against the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, until additional official data appears, Ukrainians are advised to follow reports from the Air Force and local authorities and not spread unconfirmed information about possible targets or routes of Russian attack means.
