In Kyiv, curfew will be shortened and rules for mass events will change (Updated)

In Kyiv, from September 10, the curfew will last from 01:00 to 05:00 - one hour less than now. At the same time, the capital will extend the operation of public transport, allow businesses to work in accordance with the new air alert regime, and introduce additional restrictions on holding mass events.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this following a meeting of the capital's Defense Council.

According to him, the changes were adopted in accordance with a government decision and a number of city initiatives regarding Kyiv's functioning under the worsening security situation.

Curfew will become shorter

From September 10, the curfew in the capital will be in effect from 01:00 to 05:00. Accordingly, the public transport schedule will be extended by one hour.

At the same time, the operating hours of catering establishments, entertainment venues, and shopping and entertainment centers will not change.

Additionally, during the curfew, the city will organize four bus routes to transport passengers from the Central Railway Station. The mayor's office explained the necessity of this decision by regular train delays, which can cause passengers to arrive in the capital already after the start of the night restrictions.

Klitschko also reminded that since September 3, during the curfew in Kyiv, the movement of transit large-capacity transport is already allowed.

Businesses and city services will be able to operate during the yellow level

Business entities of various forms of ownership will be able to operate in accordance with the new government decision regarding the operating regime of cities depending on the level of air threat.

During the yellow level of danger, Kyiv will continue to provide essential city services. In particular, administrative service centers and institutions that provide social services will operate.

Educational institutions and medical facilities will continue to operate according to previously approved safety protocols.

Previously, the authorities announced the introduction of two levels of response to air threats - yellow and red. Different algorithms for the operation of transport, government institutions, and businesses are provided for these levels depending on the nature of the danger.

Some mass events will be temporarily banned

At the same time, due to the worsening security situation in the capital, entertainment and physical culture and sports events in open areas will be temporarily banned.

The ban will also apply to such events in buildings without shelters.

Thus, the overall operating hours of restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping and entertainment centers will not change, but the possibility of holding mass events will depend on the availability of proper shelter.

All approved changes will take effect from 00:00 on September 10. According to Klitschko, the city is already implementing the necessary organizational measures to transition to the new operating regime.

Separately, the Kyiv Defense Council approved new rules for the operation of the metro and movement across bridges during air threats depending on the level of danger.
