Russia continues pressure on the Pokrovsk sector amid hundreds of battles over the day
Since the start of the day on September 9, there have been 221 combat engagements on the front. The most intense fighting continued on the Pokrovsk sector, where Russian troops tried to breach Ukrainian defenses 23 times; as of 22:00, two attacks were still ongoing.
This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the day, the Russian army launched 64 airstrikes and dropped 247 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy used 6,777 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out 1,901 shelling attacks on settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops.
On the Pokrovsk sector, the Defense Forces repelled 21 attacks near Toretsk, Novohryhorivka, Stepy, Annivka, Dobropillia, Shevchenko, Svitlichne, Matyashove, Serhiivka, Udachne, and Molodetske. Two more engagements were still ongoing.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, over the day on this section of the front, Ukrainian troops eliminated 56 Russian servicemen, and eight more were wounded.
The Defense Forces also destroyed nine vehicles and four pieces of special equipment of the enemy, two drone control points, and 34 shelters. Twelve more vehicles, four artillery systems, four UAV control points, and 177 shelters were damaged.
In addition, on the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian troops destroyed or suppressed 289 drones of various types.
High intensity of fighting was also maintained on the South-Slobozhanske direction. Russian troops stormed positions of the AFU 11 times near Lyman, Starytsia, Shyrokyi, and Chuhunivka, with one more engagement ongoing in the evening.
On the Huliaipole direction, eight Russian attacks were recorded near Rozhdestvenka, Ternuvate, Horkoho, and Charivne.
On the Lyman direction, Ukrainian units repelled three attempts by Russian troops to advance near Novoselivka and Dibrova, with one more battle ongoing.
On the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces stopped three assaults near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Dovha Balka. Two more attacks were repelled on the North-Slobozhanske and Kursk, as well as Kupiansk directions.
One Russian assault was recorded on each of the Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Oleksandrivka directions. On the Orikhiv and Prydniprovske directions, no offensive actions by the enemy were observed during the day.
