The average salary of full-time employees in Ukraine in August 2026 was UAH 31,892. Compared to July, it decreased by 1.1%, according to new data from the State Statistics Service.
This is already the second consecutive monthly decline. In July, the average salary was UAH 32,243 and decreased by 1.6% compared to June. Then the decline was recorded for the first time after several months of growth, about which Current Ukraine previously wrote.
At the same time, in annual terms, nominal wages continue to grow noticeably. Compared to August 2025, the average salary increased by 23.1%.
The highest payments remain in Kyiv, where the average salary reached UAH 48,705. Next are Luhansk region – UAH 33,981 and Kyiv region – UAH 32,404.
The lowest indicators were recorded by the State Statistics Service in Chernivtsi region – UAH 22,807 and Kirovohrad – UAH 22,869. Thus, the average salary in the capital is more than twice the figures of regions with the lowest pay.
The gap between individual industries remains even larger. In August, the highest average earnings were received by workers in the information and telecommunications sector – UAH 79,170. The lowest average salary was in education – UAH 19,109.
The wage decline compared to July occurred in most types of economic activity. The most noticeable reduction was recorded by the State Statistics Service in health care and social assistance – by 6.2%. In administrative and support services, the indicator decreased by 0.4%.
At the same time, wages increased in construction, IT and telecommunications, professional, scientific and technical activities, trade, real estate operations, public administration and defense, as well as in the arts, sports and entertainment. Depending on the industry, the increase ranged from 0.1% to 4.7%.
Wage arrears remain a separate problem. As of September 1, they amounted to UAH 3.8 billion.
