On Tuesday, October 13, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.9567 UAH (+0.0673 UAH to the official rate on Monday, October 12); - euro – 50.2418 UAH (-0.072 UAH to the official rate on Monday, October 12).

The rates were set at 15:30 on October 12 and reflect the following trends:

1. The Monday trading session on the interbank currency market took place in TOM trading mode [with settlements tomorrow – Ed.] due to the holiday in the US. At the beginning of trading, buyers showed almost no activity, so until 12:00 trading was in a narrow range of 44.91-44.93 on the "bid" position. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.9206 UAH – 3 kopecks higher than last Friday. After 12:00, several large buyers entered the market and began placing large purchase orders. The National Bank intervened and came out with an intervention, but this time did not stop the rise in quotes. As a result, by the close of trading, the non-cash dollar rose to 45.055 UAH on the "bid" position; trading closed at daily highs. Therefore, the NBU raised the official dollar exchange rate for Tuesday by 6.7 kopecks.

2. The euro on the international FOREX market continued to fall against the US dollar on Monday and by the time of writing had dropped to 1.1173 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro was being sold at 1.11756 dollars – 32.8 points lower than last Friday (1.12084 dollars). Therefore, despite the increase in the official dollar exchange rate, the NBU lowered the official euro exchange rate for Tuesday by 7.2 kopecks.
