U.S. First Lady Melania Trump plans to bring together representatives of Ukraine and Russia at the White House after the end of the humanitarian ceasefire in the area of the temporarily occupied Oleshky, Kherson region. The meeting will be a continuation of the diplomatic contacts that made it possible to organize aid delivery and evacuation of civilians from the city.

This was reported by the White House press office on November 3.

According to official statements, Melania Trump will personally gather representatives of the two countries at her residence in Washington. The U.S. administration called the upcoming event an unusual diplomatic occurrence given that Ukraine and Russia remain at war.

The U.S. First Lady will also make a statement regarding the humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky. Her speech is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time – 6:00 p.m. Kyiv time.

However, the White House did not specify who would represent Ukraine and Russia, whether direct negotiations between the delegations would take place, or what issues were to be discussed.

It was also not reported whether the event would include signing new agreements or preparing the next humanitarian operation. The time specified refers to Melania Trump's address, not necessarily the start of the meeting between representatives of the two countries.

Melania Trump's Mediation in Oleshky

According to previous White House statements, Melania Trump initiated contacts with Ukraine and Russia on her own, which led to an agreement on a temporary ceasefire in the Oleshky area.

The U.S. administration emphasizes the personal role of the First Lady in achieving agreements. In particular, her representatives participated in coordinating humanitarian goals, operation timelines, procedures, and conditions for safe access to civilians.

The humanitarian ceasefire in the Oleshky area was in effect from October 27 to November 1, 2026. It was introduced for demining designated routes, delivering food, medicine, and drinking water, and evacuating civilians from the temporarily occupied city.

After the mission's completion, Melania Trump stated that almost 800 people had been evacuated. She thanked Ukraine and Russia for their cooperation and expressed hope that the Oleshky experience would contribute to further peace efforts.

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets confirmed that the parties fulfilled their humanitarian obligations and ensured the delivery of necessary aid to city residents.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on November 2 that Russian troops used the pause in fighting for rotation of units, fortification of positions, strengthening anti-drone protection of roads, and supplying ammunition.

Ukraine and Russia discuss continuation of humanitarian missions

After the operation ended, the Ukrainian and Russian sides began discussing the possibility of regular humanitarian aid deliveries to the residents of Oleshky.

As previously reported by „Kurs Ukrainy”, on November 2 Dmytro Lubinets stated the need to establish systematic delivery of humanitarian cargoes to the city.

According to him, the parties are discussing the possibility of organizing such missions at least once a month. Aid is needed for residents who remained in occupied Oleshky after the first evacuation.

Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova also announced a proposal to involve Melania Trump in further mediation. According to her, representatives of the two countries discussed the possibility of asking the U.S. First Lady to help organize regular humanitarian operations.

However, new ceasefire agreements or a specific schedule of future missions have not been announced yet. Therefore, the upcoming meeting at the White House should not be considered confirmation of a new humanitarian truce.

The announced contacts in Washington are also officially unrelated to separate trilateral peace talks among Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia scheduled for November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi.

Thus, the White House continues Melania Trump's diplomatic initiative after the completion of the first operation in Oleshky. Further prospects of humanitarian cooperation will depend on agreeing on new measures, security guarantees, and practical mechanisms for their implementation.
